Supposedly I'll hear back within a week about whether I will be doing an REU this summer. I'm excited!

Introduction: Progress and investments towards a greener world are systematically multi-faceted towards i) improving existing infrastructures, ii) incorporating new findings to help current systems evolve and iii) investigating new alternatives to use—or reuse—as energy resources. This REU site is proposed on such a premise of ongoing research and development projects at Drexel University, in urban Philadelphia, on “Power and Energy: The Old, the New and The Renewable”:

  1. “The Old” consists of ongoing research on the nation’s electrical power grids at the major scale and the computational efforts towards a smarter grid,
  2. “The New” consists of research on the power dissipation of computing data centers and the design of ultra-portable communication devices, which are topics that have recently increased in criticality in terms of the impact size,
  3. “The Renewable” consists of research on promising areas for alternative power sources and conductors, such as graphene sheets, photovoltaic cells (nanowire-based) and fuel cells.
edit: rejected.

I'm going to miss the UW basketball game tomorrow because of class, but I will get to watch some of the Sounders game afterwards.

What a nice logo.

In my music class we've started using Max. I'm going to try messing around with it to see if it's useful for graphics, too.

I did the king cake competition thing with three friends yesterday. We made a triple-decker. Now it's sitting in my room and nobody is eating it.

My Data Visualization professor somehow got us free licenses for an expensive graph/chart software program called Tableau. I just downloaded it and haven't tried it yet but I hope it's as good as it sounds.

It has a good logo.
